Landscape Team Member (Fitchburg)

Starting at $16/hr

We are seeking individuals that have a desire to become dedicated landscaping craftsmen. We are a diverse, positive workforce committed to our customers and employees. This is a seasonal, full-time position with 40 +/- hours per week from March through November with the potential for advancement within the company.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Present self in a professional manner and exceed client expectations.
  • Perform a variety of landscaping activities under supervision such as softscape installation, general maintenance, and hardscape construction with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Help, as necessary, with snow removal during winter months.

We offer the opportunity to work with and learn from foremen that are experienced and dedicated to their craft.

An On-The-Job Training program is available for Team Members, where the focus is on developing skills in softscapes, hardscapes and maintenance.

Landscape Technician (Fitchburg)

Landscape Technicians assist a Softscape or Hardscape Foreman on job sites to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Technicians can operate a variety of equipment and have working knowledge of horticultural and construction practices.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Foreman in completing necessary paperwork, planning and organizing job sites and managing Team Members
  • Present self in a professional way and exceeds client expectations
  • Perform landscaping activities with accuracy and efficiency
  • Report to work at the required time and performs duties as assigned by Foreman
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Helps, as necessary, with snow removal during winter months

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of landscaping experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Work effectively as a team and independently
  • Valid, clean driving record

Hardscape Foreman (Fitchburg)

Ganshert Nursery & Landscapes is an award-winning landscape design/build company with a focus on building long-term client relationships, serving the Madison area for over 70 years. We are seeking experienced, hardworking, enthusiastic, and customer-focused hardscape foremen/project managers who take pride in their work. This is a seasonal position (40 +/-) hours March through November, with possible year-round employment. Hardscape Foremen are experienced in landscape construction, low-voltage electrical, basic plumbing, and basic horticultural practices. Hardscape Foremen supervise the activities of a team consisting of Team Members and/or Technicians.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • The ability to understand and implement a landscape plan.
  • Installation of an array of hardscape and landscape projects including but not limited to patios, walkways, driveways, retaining walls, stoops, steps, and outdoor living features using manufactured concrete and natural stone materials.
  • Installation of landscape enhancements such as low-voltage lighting and water features.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Interact with clients in a professional manner.
  • Ensure that necessary paperwork is completed with accuracy.
  • Manage a team including training on policies and procedures.
  • Work directly with our design/sales team to bring our client’s dream outdoor spaces to life.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years relevant landscaping experience including supervision of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication, math, and mechanical skills.
  • Wisconsin Driver License and insurable by the company agent.
  • Working knowledge of hardscape best management practices.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as skid loaders, truck and trailer combinations, and small equipment needed for hardscape installations.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Physically able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Softscape Foreman (Fitchburg)

We are seeking experienced, hardworking, enthusiastic, and customer-focused softscape foremen/project managers who take pride in their work. This is a seasonal, full-time position with 40 +/- hours March through November, with possible year-round employment.

  • Operate a variety of equipment including but not limited to truck and trailer combinations, skid loaders and small landscape equipment.
  • Interact with clients in a professional manner.
  • Ensure that necessary paperwork is completed with accuracy.
  • Ensure projects are completed in the most time efficient manner.
  • Manage a team including training on policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work directly with our design/sales team to bring our client’s dream outdoor spaces to life.
  • Help, as necessary, with snow removal during the winter months.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years relevant landscaping experience including supervision of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication, math, and mechanical skills.

  • Ability to interpret and execute landscape plans.
  • Working knowledge of standard horticultural practices, including but not limited to planting, pruning, and corrective pruning.
  • Basic knowledge of trees/shrubs/perennials.
