Our Staff

Errin
Landscape Designer/Owner
Since 2007
I love being able to work with homeowners to create unique landscapes that suit their needs and enhance their lives. My favorite spaces to design are outdoor living areas and plantings. I am an avid gardener and plant geek. I hope I can pass along my passion for plants to other homeowners so they can feel more confident as gardeners themselves.

Sean
Landscape Designer/Owner
Since 2012
I have a degree in Landscape Architecture from UW-Madison. I love the variety of projects we get to work on and watching our craftspeople bring those projects to life. Aside from my design background, I have multiple years of installation experience, helping me to thoughtfully explain the ins and outs of each project to my clients. I live in Madison with my wife, Katey, our son, Ellison, and our dogs Barley and Ipa.

Michael
Head Foreman/Owner
Since 1986
Michael holds a degree in international relations from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He has been with Ganshert Nursery & Landscapes since 1986. Michael is our paver patio expert, with experience in design and installation. With all of his years of service, he has lost track of how many patios and walkways he has installed.

Matt
Construction Foreman
Since 2012
Hi, I’m Matt. I’ve been landscaping since 1998. I love my job. I like to say I get to play with giant Legos all day. I enjoy camping, traveling, golf, and many other outdoor activities.

Brad
Project Coordinator/Construction Foreman
Since 2015
Working with the same people, year after year, is a great perk of working at Ganshert. Most of our staff has been here multiple seasons and a lot of our clients have been familiar faces for years. It feels like home here.

Brian
Yard Operations/Construction Foreman
Since 2017
Ganshert provides me the opportunity to build fantastic projects with great people. We get to find unique solutions to create custom spaces for our clients. Plus having my “office” be the great outdoors isn’t too bad either.

Josh
Landscape Designer
Since 2023
I originally joined Ganshert in 2023 as a design intern while in the Landscape Architecture program at UW-Madison. Since then I have graduated with my degree in 2024 and found my passion in the design-build world. I love working at Ganshert because it gives me the opportunity to help homeowners with any niche project they have, there is never a boring day! I live in Oregon with my fiance, Erin, and our three cats: Ollie, Guppy, and Bonni.

Kerri
Office Manager
Since 2022

Josie
Maintenance Manager
Since 2025
I graduated with a degree in Horticulture from UW-Madison in the spring of 2025 and joined the Ganshert team that fall. I enjoy working with the crew to help our clients keep their landscapes looking beautiful. There is always something new to learn, and the team here at Ganshert is extremely supportive and knowledgeable.

Peter
Softscape Foreman
Since 2017
I enjoy landscaping because it keeps me active, outdoors, and working with a team. I couldn’t ask for a better team than the one I’ve found at Ganshert. The depth of knowledge and attention to detail found with the staff here, from design to installation, affords a wealth of inspiration.

Victoria
Nursery Manager
Since 2023
I have been working in a plant nursery since graduating from UW-Whitewater with a bachelor’s in Biology in 2019. Some of my favorite things about working in a nursery are plant, insect, and disease identification. My favorite part about working at Ganshert is the support I get for my ideas and accomplishments as well as getting extra help during the busy season.
Our History
Ganshert Landscapes was started in 1951 by Landscape Architect Peter Ganshert. Peter was instrumental in starting the Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association in Madison and was president of the Wisconsin Nurseryman Association in 1970. His son, Paul, grew up in the business and expanded the company in the early ’80s. Graduating with a degree in landscape architecture in 1980 from the University of Wisconsin, Paul is a registered landscape architect in the State of Wisconsin.
Like his dad, Paul has been involved with the Madison chapter of the Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association, and served as president in 1991-1992 and 2009-2011. In 2000, Paul was elected president of the state chapter of the Wisconsin Landscape Contractors Association, and served two 2-year terms in that position. He has also served as board president for the National Association of Remodeling Industry (NARI) Madison chapter.
Furthering his accreditations, Paul became a certified landscape professional in 1998 through the Associated Landscape Contractors of America. This certification is a broad but powerful distinction for individuals who have taken their experience, skills and desire for excellence to the next level by studying, testing and becoming certified. In addition, he received an associate’s degree in the science of outdoor landscape lighting and design.
Ganshert Landscapes is large enough to provide professional landscaping services and small enough to personalize your experience. We specialize in the renovation of older landscapes, in addition to new residential landscape design and construction. Ganshert Landscapes maintains a nursery of our own plant material to ensure quality control.
Our expertise in design and installation includes patios, decks, retaining and decorative walls, landscape lighting, water features, pergolas, arbors, plantings, walkways, permeable paver driveways, rain gardens, and storm water management. In caring for your property, we also provide regular lawn maintenance and a seasonal schedule of pruning, fertilization, and weed control.
